The issue impacting email delivery has been resolved by our vendor and email delivery is fully operational for all users.

Senders of emails to impacted users during the incident before 2 PM may receive a delayed bounce-back email from earlier attempts and should be asked resend messages if needed.

We will continue to monitor the email systems to ensure stability.

Update
We have identified the issue in our ProofPoint email firewall and are working with our vendor to resolve it. Internal Harvard email delivery at these schools continues to be unaffected. Messages from external senders will return a bounceback email stating that messages have failed to send.

We will continue to provide updates as they become available and apologize for the inconvenience.

Investigating
We have identified an issue with group membership in our Proofpoint email firewall. This issue will impact mail routing from external senders to some internal users in HSPH, SEAS, GSD, GSE, HDS, Radcliffe, and @ Harvard addresses. Internal Harvard email delivery at these schools is not impacted.

We have relaunched the job to populate group membership. As the job runs and users are re-added to the group service will be restored.

We will provide further updates when we have them and are working actively with Proofpoint.
